Posture and exercise rank at the top of the list when you are talking about good health. They are as important as eating right, exercising, getting a good night's sleep and avoiding potentially harmful substances like alcohol, drugs and tobacco.
Good posture means your bones are properly aligned and your muscles, joints and ligaments can work as nature intended. Your vital organs are in the right position and can function at peak efficiency. Good posture helps contribute to the normal functioning of the nervous system.
Without good posture, your overall health and total efficiency may be compromised. Long-term effects of poor posture can affect bodily systems (such as digestion, elimination, breathing, muscles, joints and ligaments), and a person who has poor posture may often be tired or unable to work efficiently or move properly.
Exercise programs have been proven to be beneficial in the prevention and treatment of muscle and skeletal injuries. Maintaining flexibility through stretching, and gaining muscle tone through strengthening exercises are important aspects of an exercise routine, and will protect and support the body structure to better prevent an injury. When an injury does occur, it will often leave the body in need of reconditioning. A body that was strong prior to the injury will usually respond faster to the healing process.
At Natural State Healing Arts, treatment of new injuries focuses on reducing inflammation, restoring spinal alignment, and postural training, stretches and exercise instruction right from day one.
